Top 10 historical places in world

10. Colosseum (Italy):

Remnants of an empire that once managed the “celebrated” world, the site is incredible not only for its exquisiteness but also for its age and history. You stand at the same spot where once Caesar walked and watch the same subterranean passageways where gladiators once battled. The Colosseum has gradually disintegrated all through the ages and much of it is restricted now, particularly the basement and floors but even then it leaves an amazing impression on the spectator. Once you visit this spectacular Roman Empire site, you’ll know why it attracts more than 4 million visitors annually. Indeed, Colosseum is among one of the eminent historical places in the world which you should visit at least once in your life.

9. Christ The Redeemer (Brazil):

Although the statue of Christ the Redeemer is the latest heritage site in the list, it encompasses huge historical significance to be in the 9th position. Situated at the peak of the 700 m Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park, the statue has become a symbol of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. This 39.6 m gigantic statue of Jesus Christ is regarded as the largest Art Deco statue in the world. Constructed between 1922 and 1931 with soapstone and reinforced concrete, the statue is an icon of Brazilian Christianity. Whether you are a follower of Christianity or not, you just can’t deny the comforting feeling you get from the statue.

8. Easter Island (Chile):

Situated out in the Pacific Ocean, Easter Island is an isolated island in a particular territory of Chile. It holds Moai statues that are the last and only thing left of the civilization that once existed here. These massive and astonishingly carved heads are a great reminder that prehistoric people were not really all that primeval. The beautiful carved stones that magnetize visitors to this isolated island are made up of volcanic ash. Many of them are still un-dug which were apparently left by the colonizers as reducing resources on the island compelled their tribes to war that eventually killed them off. A list of historical places without mentioning the name of Easter Island is straightforwardly futile.

6. Acropolis (Greece):

This high city of Athens is no doubt the  best of its kind in the world. Located on a 150 m tall rock, the sight from this beautiful place is magical. However, the amazing attractions are the archaeological remnants in the three hectare surface area. Though adding Acropolis in the list would be unfair as it consists of 21 historic sites including the legendary 2500 year old temple, “Parthenon” but the ancient Greek city as a whole definitely can’t be given a miss.
