Winners list of 6th vijay film awards for 2011
The sixth edition of Vijay Awards was held on June 16 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. The awards were given for 34 categories for 143 Tamil films, which were released in 2011.
The Vijay Awards jury comprised filmmaker KS Ravikumar, cinematographer Rathinavel, actors Yugi Sethu, Nadhiya and Lizzy Priyadarshan, who choose Vikram as the Best Actor, Ajith Kumar as the Best Villain, Engeyum Eppothum as the Best Film, Vetrimaran as the Best Director of 2011.

Top 10 popular ice creams
Before going into the ice cream recipes,
one must know what an ice cream is. Ice cream is a term that originates
from iced-cream which literally means frozen and sweetened cream.
Although there are hundreds of flavors of ice creams available today,
there are some flavors that enjoy immense popularity among people. It is
also possible to experiment and make up your own flavor of ice cream.
The ice cream that we get today is also often flavored using artificial
sweeteners and other additives. Usually ice cream is made from dairy
products but there are also non fatty alternatives to using milk and
milk products. Ice cream is a great way to beat the heat in summers
apart from the simple joy of tasting something cold and sweet. Let us
now look at some of the most well known ice cream recipes.
10. Mango ice cream:
Mango ice cream is really easy to make. All you need is a couple of mangoes, 2-3 tablespoons of sugar, 2 cups of milk, one cup of condensed milk and some lemon juice. Mix the peeled mangoes and sugar in a mixer and make sure that it’s well pureed. Mix in the milk, the condensed milk and the lemon juice with the mangoes and sugar. Blend the mix into a creamy and smooth mix and refrigerate. What you get is a delightful ice cream with an aroma to kill for.

9. Banana ice cream:
Preparing Banana ice cream is one of the easiest and quickest ones. Take 4 ripe bananas and cut them up into small pieces. Add the banana chunks to 400 ml double cream and add about 50-75 gms of sugar to the mix. Squeeze in half a lemon into the mix and whizz it in a mixer till it forms a uniform mix. Put it in the freezer and make sure that you stir it occasionally to prevent it from getting completely frozen.

8. Blueberry ice cream:
This is one of the most loved ice cream recipes among all as the color of the blueberry gives the ice cream a distinct and attractive look. Mix around four cups of frozen or fresh blueberries with 2 table spoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water. Boil the mix in a large saucepan till the berries are a little soft. Strain the mix and filter out the seeds and the skins. Add the mix to the cream and then stir till its uniform. Put the mix in the freezer and refrigerate for at least 24 hours to get the best results.

7. Coconut ice cream:
Coconut ice cream is also really easy to make and tastes really great. What you need is a cupful of milk, a can of coconut cream, two cups of heavy cream and one cup of sweetened flaked coconut. Mix them all in a blender. When the mixture is smooth add in the flaked coconut with some sugar, if required, and then refrigerate the mix for at least a couple of hours. This is one of the easiest ice cream recipes and therefore is famous all around the world.

6. Honey ice cream:
Honey ice cream is a combination recipe made from a variety of secondary flavors. We will use vanilla but other flavors can also be used in its place. You will need 2 cups of milk, one cup honey, 2 beaten eggs, 2 cups whipped cream and one tablespoon vanilla. Heat the milk over a medium flame; add in the honey and also some salt. Add the beaten eggs in small amounts and stir as you cook for around 5 minutes. Cool it to room temperature and mix the vanilla. Refrigerate and freeze the mix and serve as required.

5. Butterscotch ice cream:
Butterscotch ice cream is a well known and much loved ice cream flavor. You will need a cupful of brown sugar, 2 tablespoon butter, 2 cups of whipped cream, 2 cups of light cream, 6 egg yolks and one tablespoon vanilla. Heat the sugar, the butter and vanilla in a pan till it melts. Then add in half a cup of whipped cream. After the mix is smoothened out, remove the butterscotch from the pan. Mix one cup of whipped cream with the light cream and heat it in a pan. Beat the egg yolk to a mix and then add in the heated cream to the mix. Heat the mixture in a pan for around 2 minutes. Strain this mixture into the butterscotch and refrigerate the mix, stirring it occasionally. Freeze the mix in a bowl for 10-12 hours to enjoy homemade butterscotch ice cream.

4. Pistachio ice cream:
Pistachio is a well known flavor of ice cream and is surprisingly easy to make. Take a cupful of pistachios and mix it with ¼ cup of sugar in a food processor. Mix the pistachio and sugar with milk in a pan and heat it over a low flame. Add in around ½ teaspoons of almond extract to the mix. This is your first mix. Now mix 4 large egg yolks in a bowl with half a cup of sugar. Add the first mix to this. Heat it over a low flame for a while till the custard forms. Strain the mix after around 10 minutes and cool it. To this mix add in a cup of whipped cream with ¾th cup pistachios and process in a food processor. Refrigerate for 24 hours and serve as required.

3. Strawberry ice cream:
Strawberry ice cream is one of the most well known flavors of ice cream and is therefore one of the most sought after ice cream recipes. The popularity comes from the color and the taste of the ice cream. You will need 2 cups of strawberries, 2 cups of sugar divided into halves, 3 beaten egg yolks, 500 ml double cream and 250 ml full cream milk. Destalk the strawberries and mix with half a cup of sugar and mix it in a food processor. In a different bowl, mix half a cup of sugar to the egg yolk and beat it till it is smooth. Heat this mix but do not boil it, add in hot cream milk to the mix and heat the mix again. Chill this mixture and add sugar and strawberries to it. Whip the two mixtures together till it forms a smooth and thick mix. Refrigerate the mix for 10-12 hours for best results.

Chocolate ice cream is easy to make and tastes great. There are many different ways to make this ice cream. Chocolate is an important part of the recipe and you will also need some brown sugar and some milk to go with the chocolate. Mix these two first and then add in cream into the mix. Cool the mixture till it becomes thick and smooth. Refrigerate the entire mixture and serve as required after 2-4 hours.

Whisk around 5-9 egg yolks in a bowl until it changes color slightly, add in the sugar to the bowl and mix. Add in the cream mixture into the whipped eggs and sugar and cook this mixture for around 20 minutes over a low flame. Add in 2-3 drops of vanilla extract into the mixture and stir to mix it. Once it is well mixed, put it in the refrigerator to cool for around 4-8 hours. Serve as required.
